This is a piece I felt God had put on my heart. As I began working on it, God popped a verse in my mind that exactly described what I felt was happening in this scene.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean;
I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;
I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
Ezekial 36:25-26
We all go through things or participate in things that can harden our hearts: pain, bitterness, hurt, regret, whatever it might be. Over time, we may allow our hearts to become as hard as stone.
But God promises, if we wholeheartedly give Him our heart, He will restore, heal, clean, and make our hearts new with new and right desires. Sometimes it takes time, drop by drop, piece by piece; but He will transform our hardened cold hearts to brand new hearts full of life and goodness.
God does change people. Nothing is impossible for God.
